About Walford Iowa
Walford is located that is located in Benton as well as Linn counties of the U.S. state of Iowa. Its population was 1,366 at the date of the census in 2020. This is part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Walford was first known as Terry and the new name, it was established in 1884 in the year 1884 when the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad was extended to this point. In 1889 Walford was named the city after Walford mostly on the advice by the U.S. Postal Service due to the similarity in names between Terry Perry and Terry Perry, Iowa. In the year 1897, Walford gained national attention when the general store was burned down with a corpse that was charred and two people missing, news reports concerning the body’s identity and the search for the survivor made headlines for weeks.
